Ios is situated in southern Cyclades island group, between Naxos and Santorini. The island’s area is 109 sq km and the local inhabitants are around 1.800.
The island of Ios is widely regarded as the island of Youth, the paradise of youngsters. During the touristic period the island is overcrowded with young audience, whose average age rests between 18 and 22. In the mornings till noon, large beaches are empty since all clubbers sleep half the day.
It was firstly discovered by hippies coming from all over the world during the 1960s. In the 1990s it was the rock island of the planet, packed with punks, skinheads, metalheads, freaks, piercing maniacs. Lately, many attempts have been made to attract a new profile, apart from the island of clubbers, into something more cosmopolitan with accommodation and restaurants with particular personality. In Ios it is assumed to be located the tomb of Homer, the most notable poet of ancient times, author of the epic poems Iliad and Odyssey.

The architecture of Ios is typically Cycladic with whitewashed minimalistic houses and chapels perched on hill tops or around valleys. The island boasts 365 churches and chapels, one for each day of the year.
The capital of the island, Chora, maintains a lively nightlife during summer, which you will not come across in other islands of Greece. The town’s landmark are its traditional whitewashed windmills, which offer scenic views to the Aegean sea. During the night, it turns into the party zone of the island with a full array of bars and clubs.

Mylopotas beach will provide the location for our accommodation. It’s the water-sports center of the island and has been voted in various polls among the Top10 Beaches in Europe. Regular buses connect Mylopotas beach with the capital, Chora, during the day.
