European Simulation Game is a proposal for a multilateral exchange project under EU’s YOUTH Programme.

Consider European Simulation Game as an alternative to war games, like Risk and Stratego or Age of Empires series; an interactive game that provides shift from Conflict to Cooperation, intended to provide custom solutions to urgent global problems, build critical skills, social networking and increase global awareness.

But don’t regard this game far apart from reality!

European Simulation Game simulates world history extremely vividly, and doesn’t elude from warlike tendencies such as the Colonial wars, Revolutions, World Wars. It attempts to bring realistically the entire world into one single room, in order to give participants a brief glimpse into how the world works, what the problems are, and how human societies are increasingly inter-dependent, even if distances in-between are vast.

Cornerstone in Game’s philosophy is the semantic significance of map; that makes it a considerable nuance for geographers. The map is not simply the territory it represents. It originally mimics the geographical, biological, socioeconomic and environmental diversity of real world, but also represents our perception of reality.

In order to approach reality through simulation participants will elaborate on History, International Relations, Culture, Economics, Game Theory, Ethics, Political Science, Media, and of course, Geography. Reality will be approached through a model: participants will be divided into groups and will formulate a number of distinct societies with their own culture meant to survive in their own unique environment. The world simulation will span from 1450 till 2100, from colonization until corporate globalization, and during this time frame each culture group’s model will be tested through various scenarios of world events. Participants should act dynamically during each game round by extensive teamwork, should prove adaptable towards crisis rounds and avert potential dangers against their team’s future, should balance between cooperation and competition with other teams, and eventually solve urgent global problems while competing against the clock!
